Civil wedding cost in Belgium: fees in 49 municipalities

There is no national price for a civil wedding: each municipality sets its own fees. For the ceremony, the marriage booklet or the file, amounts range from free to several hundred euros. Here is what 49 municipalities charge: all 19 in Brussels and the largest towns in Wallonia and Flanders, based on their own websites and regulations.

What the table shows

The day matters more than the municipality. In 30 municipalities, the ceremony is free on a specific weekday or time slot, sometimes with a limited number of guests, and paid at other times.
A Saturday ceremony comes with a fee almost everywhere. Only 5 municipalities offer it for free; elsewhere the cheapest slot costs up to €333, and afternoons often more.
The marriage booklet often comes on top. 36 municipalities publish its price, from €15 to €83.50.

Methodology

Checked on 8 October 2026 on each municipality's wedding page and fee regulation, then re-verified amount by amount against the source. A price the municipality does not publish is marked 'not published': we never estimate it. 6 municipalities publish no ceremony price at all.
